Jeddah Lanes Edge Out International for Honors: Monday Bowling League

JEDDAH, 5 March 2007 — Host Jeddah Lanes won a thrilling Team of the Week battle with International in the seventh session in the Monday Night Bowling League 6th Conference at the Jeddah Lanes here.

The two teams fought were even after three games but the Jeddah Lanes pulled through with better total pinfalls and claimed their first award in the five-man team league event.

Jeddah Lanes carded total pinfalls of 3,120 and International 3,104. At the end of the session Jeddah Lanes were on 43.5 points and International on 42.5.

Farisbowling.com were on 37 as they failed to get enough points to avert being bumped at second place by Jeddah Lanes. This was not the case with league-leaders Mazda Zoom Zoom, who stayed in front despite a modest haul of 21 points. Ventuno Production finished fourth on the night with 31 points followed by Al-Mottawer and Insektos, who were equal on 26 points. Sunrise International School were on 23 with Omar Salim Bugshan on 19 points.

Lipton Tea on 18, Pinshock Zone on 15 and Deaf Club of Jeddah on 10 occupied the last three places in the standings.

The second game saw Jeddah Lanes and International share the points for first and second places at 11.5 each. They made up for each other’s deficit with International on 11 and Jeddah Lanes on 8 points in the first game and Jeddah Lanes on 12 and International on 10 in the third game.

Gerry Tano found his rhythm to shoot the high series of 713 on lines of 235, 223, 255 at the vanguard of the Jeddah Lanes attack that also featured 588 from Raffy Masiglat and 575 from Manny Tibay. Bobby Baraquel added valuable games of 256-245, Jess Pineda tossed in 148-180 and Obie Ycasas contributed 208-177. International banked on a balanced attack built around the trio of Pancho Cuevas 694, Leo Pangilinan 662 and Eddie Tuico 541. Zaldy Bacero with 215-214, Toto Lim with 203-180 and Terry Naorbe with 193-178. Ventuno Production still in search of a breakthrough Team of the Week win received the leading score of 611 from Khalid Tailoni, 595 from Yousuf Akbar, 582 from Mohammad Talal, 576 from Fayez Ahmed, 195-176 from Mamdouh Ali and 197 from Jaffer Al-Khateri.

Spearheading the Insektos were the duo of Nonie Yap 611 and Hero Garcia 600, while Mottawer got a big boost from Cris Villavelez 590, Waheeb Kamfar 580 and Ammar Tarad 563. Bonnie Garcia 668, Ernie Pilapil 601 and Emil Payongayong 569 were the high scorers at Sunrise.
