MADINAH, 17 March 2007 — A member of the National Committee for Human Rights, Saeed Al-Zahrani, met with Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Ghaith, director general of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, here recently.
The talks, which took place during Al-Ghaith’s visit to the commission’s Madinah headquarters, focused on the religious body’s services to society.
Commission officials have lately been holding various meetings to review its members’ performance nationwide, and to share ideas and viewpoints.
Al-Zahrani is also the assistant director general of the Research Center for Combating Crime at the Interior Ministry. He highlighted human rights accorded by Islam 1,400 years before modern human rights laws, such as the United Nations Human Rights Charter, were enacted.
During his visit to Madinah, Al-Ghaith also participated in a training program for the commission’s new recruits in the region.
