The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Jeddah Chapter (JCICAI) honored IISJ commerce faculty toppers at their annual event. The group’s President Syed Raees said in order to encourage students of commerce stream to take up Chartered Accountancy, the chapter has continued its practice of felicitating outstanding students of 11th grade of International Indian School, Jeddah, for 2005-06.
In girls’ section Noorunnisa Habeebullah Khan was awarded for Best Performance in Commerce faculty (88 percent) and securing highest marks in Accountancy (92 percent). In boys’ section, Faheem Taha Modavankattil was awarded for Best Performance in Commerce faculty (92 percent) and jointly securing highest marks in Accountancy (92 percent) with Hassan Mahfooz (92 percent). The outstanding students were awarded a plaque along with a Cross pen (from Tamer) which was presented by IISJ Principal Shahidur Rehman.
This year another felicitation was added. The toppers at the 2005-06 CBSE 10th Board examination, who entered the commerce stream, were honored by Saudia Dairy & Foodstuffs Company (Sadafco) whose main objective in presenting the award — which comprised payment of yearly tuition fees of the toppers for 2007-08 — is to encourage students to join the commerce faculty.
The check of SR5,000 for outstanding student’s tuition fees was presented to IISJ’s principal by Uday Deshpandey, John Verghese and Afsar Faheem and the plaque to Atif Azad and Syeda Sara Qadri of IISJ boys and girls section respectively. Both had secured 88 percent. The chapter also agreed to bear the yearly tuition fees in excess of SR5,000.
The felicitation was part of the annual meet, which was also sponsored by Arabio, Binzagr Coro, Binzagr Avon, California Computers, Port Services Containers, Roche Diagnostics, Shams Trading, Shar Clinic, Sameer Photographic, UNASCO and Zaina International.
ICSJ Distributes Used Text Books
JEDDAH, 6 April 2007 — Nearly 14,000 used books were collected and 10,000 books were distributed to needy IISJ students by the Indian Cultural Society Jeddah at Shadaab Restaurant prior to the commencement of the new academic year at the IISJ.
According to ICSJ President, Arif Quraishi, nearly 1,800 books were send to IIS, Taif, and about 2,200 old books were discarded because they were out of syllabus or not in usable condition.
The books were collected at MTC packers and movers, Shadaab Restaurant, Azizia Store, Mubarak Store, Zam Zam minimarket, Anmol Rest, Chennai Darbar, Al Abeer Polyclinic, Al Rayan Polyclinic, Naseem Polyclinic. The books were sorted out and made into class wise bundles by ICSJ. The organization thanked all the collection centers for their support.
