DUBAI, 11 April 2007 — The Art and Talent Center at the Dubai Ladies Club will host an exhibition for the internationally-acclaimed artist Wajih Nahle at the Godolphin Ballroom — Emirates Towers Hotel from May 7-9.
The exhibition is part of the club’s efforts to honor artists who have contributed to encouraging art in the region.
Mona bin Kalli, event manager at the Dubai Ladies Club, said: “Through the exhibition, we seek to honor Wajih Nahle’s creativity and contribution to art in the Arab world. Nahle’s exemplary works have left an indelible mark on the region’s art movement.”
His works have won awards in Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Kuwait, France, United States and Belgium.
She noted that the Art and Talent Center at the Dubai Ladies Club actively promotes art in the UAE. The Sheikha Manal Young Artist Award Competition “New Signature,” held under the aegis of Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum, is one of the most successful initiatives undertaken by the club.
“The Dubai Ladies Club Art and Talent Center is dedicated to the development of art in the UAE. We are keen to foster critical thinking in society by presenting noncommercial contemporary art exhibits.
This will stimulate debate, social interaction and information exchange among professionals, emerging artists and art lovers,” she added.
The works of Wajih Nahle emphasize the nobility of the soul.
This is expressed in his paintings through the use of Arabic script, giving them a dynamic movement.
Of course, there is a permanent presence of woman, the source of life.
