Saudi bowler Badr Al-Shaikh, the first Arab to qualify for the 2007 World Tenpin Masters in Barnsley Metrodome, England, from April 20-22, participated in the 3rd Kuwait Open Championship, which ended yesterday. Al-Shaikh qualified for the second round of 16 and placed 14th. He received an award of $2, 000. Nine Saudi bowlers participated: Brothers Badr and Hassan Al-Shaikh, Yassir Abu Al-Raish, Faisal Al-Sugati, Yousif Akbar, Mohammed Al-Najrani, Prince Mohammed ibn Sultan, Mohammed Khufaji and Fadi Al-Tuwaireb.
Military Athletics Event in Qatar
Saudi athletes are preparing for the Qatar Military Championship and will fly to Qatar on April 23 for the one-week event. Yehya Habeeb, Yahya Gahis and Salim Al-Yami will participate in the 100m events, while Mubarak Atta and Ahmed Al-Muwwalad compete in the (110m hurdles). Other members of the team are: Hamid Al-Bishi, Mohammed Al-Bishi and Adil Aseeri (200m), Ismael Al-Sibyani (400m), Bandar Sharahili and Idrees Hawasawi (discus), Sultan Al-Hibshi (shot put), and Mohammed Majrashi (triple jump). The Saudis will also compete in the 4x100m and 4x400m relay events.
Two Saudis in Shooting World Cup
The Saudi national shooting team is flying today to Korea to participate in the Shooting World Cup, which runs from April 17 to 28. Two Saudi shooters are representing the Kingdom in the skeet competition and they are Saeed Al-Mutairi and Majid Al-Tamimi.
