JEDDAH, 15 April 2007 — CPC (Construction Products Holding Company) signed a three-year contract worth 50 million euros with Saudi Binladin Group, the main contractor of Dakar International Airport, Senegal.
Under the contract, the Jeddah-based Construction Products Holding Company will supply steel, aluminum, marble, granite and decoration wood to be used throughout the construction work.
On this occasion, Dr. Faysal Alaquil, Secretary of the Board of Directors and the official spokesman of CPC, said: “This is the first contract signed by CPC outside the Middle East.
It marks the beginning of the geographical expansion in the company’s work for the supply of construction products, which are produced at its specialized factories in Riyadh and Jeddah, to meet the needs of contracting companies in the Kingdom and abroad.”
He further said that “since CPC started its work, the company aimed to provide all construction products needed for construction companies inside and outside the Kingdom based on its experience and high-quality production units. The company’s drive and plans to take advantage of the urban expansion in the Kingdom and neighboring countries have proven correct.”
Alaquil also confirmed that “in line with the strategic plan of CPC, and in the framework of its expansion plans, and in view of the current boom of the Syrian economy, particularly in the construction sector, CPC has allocated SR640 million ($170 million) for the purchase of a 265,000 square meters of land in Adra industrial zone.
Its primary purpose is to meet the need of the Syrian market in construction materials in general, as an industrial complex is now being built there, he said.
Moreover, he said: “CPC added an important station in Abu Dhabi to its industrial network through entering into a partnership with Arkan Company in UAE to establish 6 specialized factories at a cost of SR750 million ($200 million), for producing construction products to meet the needs of construction companies in UAE in particular, and the Gulf countries in general.”
