SHARJAH, 19 April 2007 — The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has chosen European hospitality leader, Accor, under its international brand Novotel, as the operator for the Expo Center Sharjah Hotel that will be built within the emirate’s planned “Expo City.”
Novotel runs almost 400 hotels in 58 countries.
An agreement providing Novotel the complete management responsibilities once the hotel is constructed and ready for operation, was signed between SCCI Chairman Ahmed Mohammed Al-Midfa and Accor Middle East Managing Director Christophe Landais at Expo Center Sharjah recently.
“Given that Expo Center Sharjah is considered as one of Middle East’s leading exhibition organizers and venues, the need for a world class hotel facility for our overseas exhibitors and visitors is quite obvious,” said Ahmed Mohammed Al-Midfa at the signing ceremony.
Expo Center Sharjah, the exhibitions wing of the SCCI, will commence construction of the hotel by end of 2007 and expects to hand over the property to Novotel for full operation by December 2009.
