DUBAI, 20 April 2007 — Zenobia, the epic musical play written by legendary Lebanese composer and poet Mansour Rahbani, premiered to an enthusiastic reception at Dubai Studio City on Wednesday night.
Carole Samaha delivered a performance as the brave Palmyran Queen who fought off the Roman legions, and Ghassan Saliba was heart-rending as her Leader of Knights. Veteran stage actor Antoine Kerbaje drew a thunderous applause when he appeared onstage as
the imposing Roman Emperor Orleanos. Sharing the stage were 130 other cast members that replicated historical battles, complete with burning houses, sword fights, and cavalry charges.
A host of VIP guests attended, among them Mariyam Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al Kindi, Minister of Environment, and Humaid Mohammed Obeid Al Qattami, Minister of Health, as well as Saeed Al Naboudah, CEO of the Dubai Shopping Festival.
Zenobia will continue until Monday, with nightly performances at 9:00 pm at the specially-constructed venue in Dubai Studio City.
