JEDDAH, 16 May 2007 — More than 40 drivers are to race in the second round of the Jeddah Raceway Autocross 2007 being held for two days from today. The event will take place at 8:30 p.m. on both days. The event, hosted by JRW, will be held over three rounds on a 1.3 kilometer course with each driver covering the course twice.
The race has three car categories – 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder. each category includes three types of vehicles: front wheel drive, four wheel drive and rear wheel drive.
The winner of each category will receive SR10,000, the second place driver SR6,000 and the third place driver SR3,000.
The first winner will be awarded 20 points, the second 18 points, the third 16 points and the fourth 14 points, and one point for all drivers from fifth position downward. The overall championship winner is the driver with the most points at the end of all three rounds.
The first round for the under 2500cc front wheel drive vehicles ended with Nail Bidare taking first place, Thamer Wardani second place and Tariq Ghazi third place.
In the under 2500cc category, Prince Khalid ibn Sultan of Al-Faisal Racing Team finished first with second place going to Bandar Alghalib in his Subaru Impreza and third place to Abdulhaq Asami.
In the over-2500cc, Saed Zaki of Al-Faisal Racing Team won first place in his rear wheel drive BMW, with Eyad Alnajar in second place and Jenkees Khan in third position.
In the first round of the open category, Shane Patrick and Faris Omar took first and second place respectively.
In the strongest category, over 2500cc and four wheel drive, the winner and first place driver is Majid Alghamdi with Fadi Hamada coming second and Ahmed Altayeb, winner of two consecutive Autocross events, in third place.
