JEDDAH, 18 May 2007 — The annual twin show of Saudi Health Care and Saudi Hospital, to be held in Jeddah on May 20-23, will showcase the latest services and equipment related to the sector and will be marked by a two-day symposium at the Jeddah Hilton Hotel.
The 14th health care exhibition is an international show of medical, insurance, dental, pharmaceutical, scientific equipment and lab ware.
The Saudi Hospital is an international event for non-medical hospital infrastructure, supplies and furnishings.
“Being held with the support of the Ministry of Health, the event provides an opportunity for evaluating the requirement of the latest services and equipment in the health care sector and is regarded as the Kingdom’s national showcase and the region’s international forum,” Zahoor Siddique, exhibitions director at Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions Ltd., which is organizing the event, told the media yesterday. This year’s edition enjoys the support of national groups from Egypt, Pakistan, Poland and Turkey and individual participation from China, Germany, India, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Lebanon, Taiwan and the United States alongside leading Saudi companies dealing in health care and hospital equipment.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with the Consulate General of Pakistan will participate in the fair.
Thirteen leading Pakistani pharmaceutical and surgical products companies will be participating in this exhibition and display their full range of products in “Pakistan Pavilion.” A 25-member delegation comprising of manufacturers and exporters from Pakistan will be visiting the Kingdom to participate in the fair.
They will also be meeting with Saudi importers and traders for market opportunities.
The Kingdom is acknowledged as the largest market for medical equipment and health care products in the Gulf.
The Ministry of Health is the largest buyer representing around 60 percent of the market for such products. The Kingdom is the largest market in the Middle East for pharmaceuticals, with the Gulf accounting for over 65 percent of all the sales.
The Kingdom imported 90 percent of its medical requirements valued at $1.2 billion in 2005.
The event is taking place at a time when the Kingdom is endeavoring to improve medical services by establishing medical training centers equipped with latest technology and equipment for training its medical staff including doctors, technicians and paramedics.
King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH & RC), Jeddah, is organizing a high-profile two-day symposium under the supervision of the Saudi Council for Health Specialties with credit hours, focusing on health care problems in children themed the “Role of Community and Family” beginning on May 21.
Speakers include Dr. Heba Attiyah, speech pathologist of KFSH & RC, Jeddah, Dr. Ena’am Al-Ruboue of King Fahd Military Hospital, Professor Yacoub Al-Obeid of Kuwait, Hayat Ali and and Dr. Doris Taha, nutrition specialist and pediatric endocrinologist respectively, both of KFSH & RC, Jeddah.
Topics include the role of family and community in incorporating children with special needs in the community, child abuse, trauma in children, nutrition problems in children and dealing with the diabetic child.
The exhibition will be open to businessmen and professionals between 10:30 am and 7:30 pm during the four days of the show.
