DUBAI, 4 June 2007 — The Dubai Marina Mall complex — consisting of a shopping and entertainment center located along the waterfront — is scheduled to open in the second half of 2008, its developer Emaar Properties said yesterday.
The complex, which extends over an area of 42,000 sqm and have 40,000 sqm of net leaseable space, will house several retail outlets offering an array of shopping options, an extensive spread of restaurants and cafes, a cineplex and children’s entertainment area. A two-level basement plus five-story parking lot will accommodate over 3,000 vehicles.
Emaar Malls Group LLC, the retail subsidiary of Emaar Properties, will start leasing the retail space soon. The focus is on offering a balanced retail and entertainment spread that meets the needs of Dubai Marina residents and visitors.
“Dubai Marina is one of the most fashionable lifestyle neighborhoods in the city, and the Dubai Marina Mall will enhance the quality of living of residents by serving as a one-stop shopping and entertainment destination,” Emaar Malls Group Chief Executive Officer Rashid Doleh said.
“The mall also highlights Emaar’s growth strategy of diversifying into sectors such as education, health care, hospitality and leisure, malls, finance and industry, in line with the company’s objective of being a total lifestyle provider.” “Dubai Marina has a projected total population of 75,000, and with several thousand residents already living in the waterfront neighborhood, Dubai Marina Mall has a strong captive clientele. Its central location within the master development will be a key attraction for tenants,” he added.
Meanwhile, Multiforms, the Dubai-based architectural aluminum façade specialist and subsidiary of Emaar Industries & Investments, signed its first international deal for the design, supply and installation of a building envelope with UK-based Multiplex (UK) Construction.

Under the deal, Multiforms will design, supply and install the external envelope to Castle House, situated in Elephant and Castle, London. Castle House is 43-story residential building that forms part of the regeneration plan for the Elephant and Castle area and will form the center piece of this development.
