DAMMAM, 15 June 2007 — A girl at a high school here dropped to the ground during a final exam, alarming teachers who scrambled for a first aid kit, the daily Al-Yaum reported yesterday. When the adults huddled around the student deeply concerned for her health, they heard the student snoring. The girl later apologized for the scare, saying she had stayed up for two nights studying for the exam.
Crook Gets Idea, but Not a Good One
JEDDAH, 15 June 2007 — Hey, here’s a good idea: Before robbing a store call the police to report your car stolen — the car you plan to use as a getaway vehicle. If you do that then later you have an alibi that your car was stolen and therefore you could not have been involved in the crime. Of course this clever idea could back fire. For example, the police could start searching for your car at the same time you are committing the robbery, therefore witnessing you commit the crime in the car you previously reported stolen. Local Saudi newspapers reported yesterday that this is what happened to one crook in this west coast city who was arrested when undercover cops saw his “stolen” car and subsequently witnessed him and his buddies robbing a joint. The man was arrested and charged with robbery and falsely reporting a crime to authorities.
Bank Delinquent in Delinquency Notice
AHSA, 15 June 2007 — “Dear Sir: We have noticed that you are delinquent on the re-payment of your debt. Please give this matter your utmost attention.” This is more or less what a letter that was addressed to a former employee of Saudi Aramco said regarding nonpayment of SR3,500 in outstanding debt owed to a bank here. Interesting to note: The man is a former Saudi Aramco employee because he’s dead. He died in 1996. The family of the deceased received this letter of delinquency in repayment earlier this week... 11 years after the man passed away. The family of the deceased told the daily Al-Yaum that they are perplexed as to the reasons why it took the bank 11 years to figure out that they’ll never get their money back.
