Sultan Discusses New Projects in Al-Kharj

AL-KHARJ, 15 June 2007 — Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, yesterday attended a graduation ceremony of the 21st batch of graduates from the Secondary Industrial Institute, which is run by the General Organization of War Industries (GOWI) in Al-Kharj.

Crown Prince Sultan also toured an exhibition showcasing GOWI products, including models of tanks and armored cars.

Brig. Nasser Al-Juaid, director of the Teaching and Training Department at GOWI, presented the crown prince with a memorial gift designed by students at the institute.

In his welcome speech, Lt. Gen. Muhammad Al-Faisal, director general of GOWI, said the courses and training offered at the institute have helped students develop their manufacturing skills and keep pace with the latest developments in the field. A number of employees, who have completed 25 years of continuous service at the organization, were also honored on the occasion.

The crown prince also yesterday chaired a meeting of the board of directors of GOWI. The meeting took decisions on some new projects in the war industry.

Those who attended the meeting included Riyadh Gov. Prince Salman, Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation for Military Affairs Prince Khaled ibn Sultan and Chief of Staff Gen. Saleh Al-Mahayya.

Sultan is scheduled to open today several new projects aimed at the development of the Prince Sultan Airbase in Riyadh, Saudi Press Agency quoted Commander of the Prince Sultan Airbase Maj. Gen. Ali Al-Daghaither as saying.

The new projects to be opened include the Prince Abdul Rahman Hospital, a new catering project and an extension to the Prince Salman Road in Al-Kharj.
