JEDDAH, 24 June 2007 – Pakistan Doctors’ Group honored the outgoing Pakistani consul general, Masood Akhtar, at a farewell reception held here over the weekend.
The event was marked by a symposium on “Acid peptic disease” in which Dr. Mohammad Hussain Moghrbel, chairman and consultant at the gastroenterology unit of King Abdul Aziz Hospital, spoke about nonerosive gastric acid disorders, and their aetiology and management.
He also emphasized on an early diagnosis of acid peptic disease risk factors and the superiority of proton pump inhibitor on histamine H2 blockers. He presented a slide show on new research studies in the field.
Dr. Hisham El-Khayal, senior medical representative of Janssen Cilag, which sponsored the symposium, gave a presentation on recent advances on proton pump inhibitors.
Group General Secretary Dr. Akhtar Qureshi, Dr. Ayyub, consultant gastroenterologist at King Abdul Aziz Hospital, Dr. Javeed Khan of King Fahd Military Hospital and Dr. Urfan Hashmi of King Abdul Aziz Hospital also spoke.
