Sony opened a state-of-the-art service center in Riyadh on Sunday to provide better services to its customers. Mohammed Al-Sarhan, vice president of the Faisaliah Group, inaugurated the new station. “This is the 15th service center we are opening in the Kingdom to give speedy services to our customers, “ Sony Kingdom service manager Hassan A. Kareem Ubaidan told Arab News following the formal inauguration. He added that the new service center will replace the previous center in Olaya district. “The new center will have more counters to receive customers and there is a large waiting lounge for customers to spend their time leisurely,” he added. He said Sony has 27 showrooms throughout the Kingdom where customers could see all its products under one roof. Ubaidan said the counter staff is fully manned by young Saudis. Mohammed Al-Seghai, managing director of Modern Electronics, sole distributor of Sony Electronics in the Kingdom, said it has bagged four Sony Gold Awards during the recent Annual Sony Regional Service Conference held in Dubai in early June. Modern Electronics is a subsidiary of the Faisaliah Group.
Red Tag
Red Tag, a new family fashion and home store, opened at the Salama Center, Prince Sultan Street, Jeddah, yesterday. This is the GCC’s fourth Red Tag outlet. The first opened in May 2006 in Abu Dhabi. Red Tag is a new concept store by Jazirat S’maa Fashion Co., Ltd., owner of the S’maa Fashion and Last Chance stores in the Kingdom. The company is a member of Faisal A. Al-Suwaiket Group of Companies. Red Tag is a value retailer with an entire range of fashion and homeward items. The layout of the new 20,000-square-foot store has been designed to meet the latest retailing standards and includes a coffee shop where shoppers can enjoy a free cup of coffee. Its home ware departments include a wide range of bedroom, bathroom, dining and home decor products.
RVIS
Riffa Views Signature Estates celebrated the beginning of construction of the Riffa Views International School (RVIS) located in The Lagoons Estate. The school is set to be completed in September 2008, with registration to commence in September 2007. RVIS is being established under the operational direction of the world class International Schools Services (ISS) and it will provide an American curriculum program of international standards. RVIS will initially admit students from ages four (pre kindergarten) to ten (5th grade). Additional grade levels will be added each year thereafter. Registration will be open not only to Riffa Views homeowners but also to foreigners and nationals residing in Bahrain. It will receive 280 pupils for September 2008’s academic year (in subsequent years as the school adds older grades the school’s capacity will increase to 560 students). ISS will ensure the highest international education standards by overseeing the certification.
Saudi Readymix
Saudi Readymix — leading producer and supplier of ready-mixed concrete and related products in Saudi Arabia — shared the company’s wide experience in the ready-mixed concrete industry at the three-day Middle East Cement 2007 conference, held in Dubai on June 18-20. Fadi Mujahed, Saudi Readymix marketing director, highlighted the challenges and opportunities of the cement and ready-mixed concrete industries in the Kingdom. “The boom in construction is under way in the Gulf region and the massive development plans for Saudi Arabia have resulted in a huge increase in demand for ready-mixed concrete.” In his study entitled “The Changing Construction Landscape,” it examined the trends and varying needs of the Saudi construction industry as the expansion of the Kingdom forges ahead. It reviewed the position on current projects and outlined future trends for the cement industry.
Al-Rajhi Bank
The Executive President of Al-Rajhi Bank Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi announced in Riyadh early in the week that the bank’s board of directors has issued a resolution during its meeting recently for creating a post of executive vice president. Accordingly, it appointed Saeed ibn Mohammad ibn Ali Al-Ghamdi to the post effective July 1, 2007. Al-Ghamdi was appointed last year as board member of Al-Rajhi Bank, Malaysia. Al-Ghamdi joined Al-Rajhi Bank in 1991 at IT and Information System immediately after his graduation from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals at the College of Computer Science and Engineering. He managed Taj System project from1998 to 2000. He was then appointed head of the information systems at the IT group and worked in that capacity till 2001.
