KOZHIKODE, 30 June 2007 — The Malabar Chamber of Commerce has urged the federal government to persuade Kuwait to review its decision of not allowing Indian flights to land in the country. Chamber President P. Zakeer and Calicut Airport Committee chairman P.V. Chandran sent a joint request to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel, Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs E. Ahamed to intervene on the issue, a chamber statement said.
The adverse impact of the ban would be felt severely in northern Kerala since Indian and Air-India are the only airlines operating between Kuwait and Kozhikode, it said.
