Bahrain Aims to Be Insurance Hub

MANAMA, 18 July 2007 — Bahrain aims to become a major regional insurance hub, the country’s Crown Prince and Economic Development Board Chairman Shaikh Salman ibn Hamad Al-Khalifa said yesterday. He linked the “phenomenal growth” of the sector with leading international insurance firms keen to establish their headquarters in Bahrain. “Bahrain looks forward to the enhancement of the services it offers and also to become a regional center in the domain,” he said while receiving Central Bank of Bahrain Governor Rasheed Al-Maraj. Maraj was representing the new board of the Bahrain Insurance Association chaired by Ashraf Adnan Bseisu.
