The National Commercial Bank (NCB) recently sponsored its first two-day national forum to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking and drugs under the slogan “For the development of the nation and the health of the body” at the Jeddah Hilton. The charity event was held in conjunction with the World Day to combat smoking and drugs, and supported by Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal. Jeddah Governor Prince Mishaal ibn Majed presented a plaque to the NCB, which was received by Saud Sabban, its head of human resources division. Sabban said that the bank’s interest in supporting such events stemmed from its sense of civic duty. “The bank strives to contribute to charity efforts and also organizes various programs to support humanitarian and social activities. Ghassan Badkook, NCB’s head of PR, said the drive was meant to protect humanity from the dangers of the consumption of tobacco and drugs.

BurJuman

BurJuman is currently hosting a week long series of fun and comic acts to keep everyone smiling for hours during Comedy Surprises, as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS), which ends on July 25. Spectators are being treated to a series of comedy workshops and exhibitions everyday from 4:00 pm to 10:00pm, the ‘Comedy Interactive Workshop’ being the highlight of each day. Starting with a short history lesson on the evolution of comedy, shoppers are offered a brief, fun and interactive tutorial that children and adults alike enjoy. Comedy has always been an entertaining social factor in all societies, with origins dating back to the ancient days of Greek civilization. Today, comedy takes different shapes and forms, ranging from stand-up and improvisation, to impersonation and theater. In addition, the main stage presents a set of mimicking comedy characters and comedy quiz.

SABB

SABB recently participated in the 18th training course held by Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) to honor the judges of the Ministry of Justice and the Bureau of Grievances on money laundering, terrorism funding, and financial crimes. “SABB’s participation in this course underlines its commitment to the community and its extensive efforts to fight money-laundering crimes, which adversely affect national and global economies,” Mohammed ibn Ibrahim Al-Obaid, senior manager, compliance department at SABB, represented the bank at the event where a comprehensive presentation on money laundering in the Kingdom was given to the judges to provide specialized knowledge on money laundering and terrorism financing activities as well as on combating financial crimes. The judges were given the latest and essential information, directives and practices to promote their skills and abilities in this field on national and international levels.
