JEDDAH, 25 July 2007 — A drag race will be staged at Jeddah Racing Track at the east of Ubhor bridge tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. under the patronage of Prince Faisal ibn Saud ibn Abdulmuhsin, chairman of the United Race Company. Prizes worth SR100,000 will be given to the winners. Entrance to the event is free of charge and open for men only. Eighty cars will participate in the quarter-mile drag races.
The opening ceremony will also feature the launch of a new thobe (the Arab dish-dash) brand, Ray Thobes, by designer Walid Akram.
The event will also include a fashion show for the collection, which will feature thobes that are more sporty and practical for people who drive fast cars. Ten Saudi men will be modeling the new designs.
