TAIF, 14 August 2007 — Local police found the bodies of two young Saudis in Renya desert, the daily Al-Watan reported. One of the bodies was found inside the car while the other one some distance away from the car. Police received a report from a Saudi citizen informing them about the car. Police and forensic teams moved to the area. All indication shows that the two victims died as a result of thirst when their car stopped after running out of gas. Police said that the two Saudis died 10 days ago and the body found outside was in a very bad state of decomposition. Police discovered the identity of the two victims from their ID cards. Authorities urge people who travel off the beaten path to ensure their cars are in good working order and to bring tools and adequate water with them. People who take desert treks are urged to tell relatives or friends to inform authorities if they don’t arrive or return at a set time.
