JEDDAH, 21 August 2007 — A 10-day car festival at Al-Tahlia Center kicked off on Saturday night as part of the Jeddah Summer Festivals. The event will include musical shows by Al-Gharbiyah folklore band.

Visitors will be introduced to 10 different cars brands and will learn techniques in choosing the suitable car for them.

Customer services representatives will give an idea about the displayed cars’ interiors and exteriors.

“Having the exhibition at a shopping mall allows hundreds of families who do not usually visit car agencies to see the cars and also buy them and drive them away immediately, which is a gain for the agencies,” said Sahar Hamza, director of Segal Establishment for Marketing and Commerce, that is responsible for organizing and supervising the event.

Hamza makes sudden visits to make sure the customer services representatives of every agency are present to answer the visitors’ inquiries.

Participating car agencies are Al-Mutawakel Agency (Peugeot), Haj Hussain Ali Reza (Mazda), Al-Jazeera Agency (Ford), Mohamed Yousef Naghi (Hyundai), United Car Agency (Dodge), Abdullah Hashim Agency (Honda) Abdullatif Jamil (Daihatsu and Toyota), Al-Homrani Car Agency (Nissan), and Saudi Kia Company.

“I didn’t expect a huge number of people running down the escalators to catch a look at the show and the entrance of the cars,” Hamza said.

Interested visitors can try driving the cars as there are test drive cars parked in the mall’s parking lot.

The same event took place in Serafi Mega Mall in 2005 and again occurred last month at Aziz Mall.

The event will roam around many other shopping and entertainment centers.

It will take place again during the whole month of Ramadan (starting Sept. 13) at Aziz Mall.
