RIYADH, 23 August 2007 — Pakistan Writers’ Club (PWC) held an emergency meeting to condole the death of renowned Urdu author Qurratulain Haider, who died on Tuesday, after a prolonged illness. She was 81.
President of the club Faiz Al-Najdi presided over the session, which began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Syed Khawaja Nehal Uddin. Vice-President of the club Ashiq Hussain conducted the proceedings.
H.M. Fayyaz, Naim Awan, Ali Asif Rasheed, Syed Bashir Ahmed, Omair Tariq Nadim and Gohar Rafiq also spoke on the occasion. A condolence prayer was also held.
