MUMBAI, 16 September 2007 — Intolerance and inhuman acts in a public place came to fore as a 30-year-old woman employer lost her cool when her driver identified as Abdul requested her for a few minutes’ of relief for breaking the first day of Ramadan fast and prayer on Friday evening at the posh Pali Hill Road in suburban Bandra of Mumbai.

The Bandra police, who confirmed the incident, said that the woman, whom they refused to identify, lost her cool when Abdul requested her to give him time off to break the fast and offer the evening prayers. “The young lady allegedly beat him up in front of the public, kicking Abdul on his back mercilessly, slapping and hurling choicest abuses on him,” said a police official.

Another police official said that the employer rained punches on Abdul, dragged him out of the car and pushed him so hard that the driver fell on an iron railing. So cruel was the attitude of the woman that she even snatched the iftar food from the hands of Abdul and flung it on the road.
