CAIRO, 17 September 2007 — Egyptian comedian Hussein El-Sherbini, who died on Friday evening in Cairo at the age of 72 after a prolonged illness, was buried in Nasr city in eastern Cairo on Saturday, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday.
After suffering a leg fracture from a fall in 2002, he disappeared from the public eye and was spending time with close family members.
After receiving a degree in dramatic arts from Cairo University in 1960, El-Sherbini worked for Al-Gomhuria daily as a reporter for a short time before becoming a performer. He appeared in over 30 stage productions, 90 movies and dozens of television shows.
