ABU DHABI, 23 September 2007 — Abu Dhabi has been selected to host the first Asian Business Awards ever to be held in the Arab world, Nadia Zaal, CEO of Al-Barari, a prime sponsor of the Asian Business Awards Middle East 2007, said in a statement yesterday.
The function will be held in December at the Emirates Palace Hotel to honor the far-reaching contributions the Asian business community has made to the region.
The awards will recognize achievements of Asian business leaders and entrepreneurs who have made a mark on the Middle East and built enterprises that have strengthened the traditional and historic ties between Asia and the Middle East and helped to build their communities at home and abroad.
“The Asian community has played such an important role in the development of the UAE and the region as a whole,” Zaal said. “An acknowledgement of their achievements in business and development is really long overdue and we were keen to support this landmark celebration,” she added.
The awards will be divided into eight categories: Outstanding Asian Business Man of the Year; Outstanding Asian Business Woman of the Year; Asian Rising Star of the Year; Young Asian Achiever of the Year; Outstanding Contribution to Middle East Development Award; Asian Business Leader of the Year; Global Asian of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award.
The nominations for these categories will be open to the public from Oct. 1 and can be registered on the Asian Business Awards, Middle East 2007 website www.abameonline.com, which will contain details on nomination criteria and voting procedures.
