RIYADH, 12 October 2007 — Another week, another double. And before anyone knew it another title could be in the works for the rampant RBC Patriots.
Capping a big week of league action at the Riyadh Bowling Club the Patriots reprised Bowl Fanatics’ perfect 13 the night before on their way to the Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the 9th session in the RTBC-Seiko Thursday Night Bowling League 13th Conference here.
MBAP (5 points, 3,768 pinfalls) were the unlucky victims to get in the way of the inspired Patriots who put together total pinfalls of 4,139 and swept the win and bonus points for scores of 850 and 950 with games of 987, 998, 1,035 and 1,119.
PSU’s 11-6 rout of Bowlfriends on total pinfalls of 3,878-3,694 was the only other lopsided result and the rest of the matches were close in the five-man team league event organized by Riyadh Tenpin Bowlers Coalition and sponsored by Al-Hussaini & Al-Yahya Trading Company (Seiko), through its General Manager Ali Abdul Mohsen Al-Ammash and Riyadh Sales Manager Faisal Al-Dulli.
D’Beaver’s edged out Schneider Electric 9-8 (3,821-3,801), Cool Runnings nipped Hoi Int’l 8-7 (3,802-3,650) and Bowl Fanatics shaded Invaders 8.5-7.5 (3,715-3,715).
For Ely Fanugao it was a personal double delight, as he claimed Bowler of the Week honors for the second straight night — a rare feat given the quality of the competition.
Fanugao hit the high series of 870 on rounds of 257, 193, 226 and 194 to spearhead the Patriots charge that was built around an eight-man rotation.
Ding Balagtas was the only other bowler to play full games at Patriots at 870, while Fhel Ramos added 696, skipper Mike Mangubat 465, Henry Pablo 389, Joel Batolina 379, Zaldy Torres 375 and Sammy San Juan 138.
The third-ranked PSU had fun as well on the lanes with eight players. At the helm of it all were the duo of Muds Dais and Fareed Aquino who scored 799 and 768. Benjie Macatuno and Al Alfonso, the two elder statesmen on the team, contributed 577 and 567. Skipper Saud Egil made 452, Arnold Jesena 355, Jim dela Rosa 182 and Willy Nogoy 178.
D’Beaver’s were just neat with six and it was Ruel Chua who showed the way with 810 followed by Arthur Yukong with 810, skipper Armin Isles with 774, Jojo Miraflor with 767, Freddie Santiago with 360 and Jun Macarandan with 306.
Cool Runnings received 821 from Erick Perez, 806 from Ricky Cuenco, 701 from Fred Zacarias, 550 from Ed Maduro 495 from Fidel Ferrer and 429 from Benito Santos.
Fresh off a perfect performance the night before, Bowl Fanatics had a tough time on this night to win by a hair from Invaders. At the forefront of the Fanatics was Edwin Pecson who tallied 789. Team captain Nelson Complido compiled 718 to go with the 587 by Luis Bonguit, 551 by Rey Manto, 545 by Romy Goliat and 525 by Leo Laudencia.
Among the notable scorers on the night were Benny Racal of Hoi and Luis Semillano of MBAP who shot 846 and 836.
