For many years I have asked about the reasons behind the rise in cancer in the Kingdom. I also wonder what happens to cancer patients in the end. Do they just die like that?

A number of doctors have told me that cancer cases have been increasing in the Kingdom and I have not yest found an answer to why this is happening. The increase is met by poor treatment and a delay in detecting cancer at the Kingdom’s government hospitals.

I recently received an e-mail about cancer and the suffering of cancer patients. The e-mail tried to assure people that having cancer does not necessarily mean one will die. It is a disease like other diseases and not a death sentence. It said when doctors tell patients that they do not have cancer cells in their bodies then that does not necessarily mean the person does not have cancer. Rather it means that the cancer has not grown large enough to be detected.

The e-mail warned people against getting quick treatment for the disease via chemical therapy or by surgery because these forms of treatment can have negative and serious consequences. The danger is that such treatment can destroy whatever power remains in the body. Chemical treatment poisons cancer cells and at the same time destroys healthy ones. It also negatively affects other important organs of the body like kidneys and livers.

This is just a small part of the e-mail. It is worth reading the entire thing. I wish the Ministry of Health would do its part and increase public awareness about cancer.

The ministry should act quickly and stop the sale of products that contain cancerous elements and that are readily sold in our markets and have become part of our daily lives. At the end of the day, it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Health to keep people safe and healthy.

At the same time the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Rural and Municipal Affairs should also take a share of this responsibility. I hope to see this happening soon.
