RIYADH, 31 October 2007 — The Japanese pair of Junko Akito and Mami Tsukuda won the First Division and Second Division titles in the Ladies October Monthly Medal golf tournament at Dirab Golf Club yesterday.
Akito, with a 24 handicap, shot a net score of 73 to top the 0-27 handicap category with another Japanese, Mitsuyo Saito, runner-up on 77.
Tsukuda returned the day’s best score of 69 to win the category for 28-36 handicap. Flore Bouzanne took the runner-up position two strokes back on 71.
Led by captain Theresa Wade, 15 lady golfers teed it up for this 18-hole full handicap strokeplay competition sponsored by Radisson SAS Hotel.
Akito also grabbed the award for longest drive and Evelyn Hayler pocketed the closest to pin accolade.
Winners in the raffle draw of valuable prizes were Cristina Alabart, Elke Nilsson and Evelline Marko.
In addition to regular monthlies the ladies at Dirab conduct their own tournaments.
Dirab Golf Club Manager Bouchaib El Jadiani and his staff organized the tournament.
