JEDDAH, 5 November 2007 — Abraj Al-Hilal residential towers within Jeddah Gate is open for sale starting on Wednesday, Alauddin Abdullah Saed, chief executive officer, Emaar Middle East, announced in a press conference here yesterday.

“The first phase consists of the two, three, four-bedroom apartments and penthouses at Abraj Al-Hilal, a key residential component of Jeddah Gate — the SR6 billion ($1.6 billion) project located in downtown Jeddah. The sales begin on Wednesday at the Jeddah Gate Sales Center situated along King Abdullah Road in the Old Airport area,” he said.

“The project will be opened for Saudis, Gulf Cooperation Council nationals and other foreigners after meeting the requirements of the Kingdom’s rules and regulations regarding ownership of property,” he added.

Saed said “the three towers, ranging from 19 to 22 stories, have an elegant architecture that blends contemporary and traditional styles. The apartments, from 124 to 600 sq m in sizes, are modern and offer a full range of amenities and high specifications.”

When asked whether the Jeddah Gate could compete with major economic cities planned in the Kingdom, Saed said: “The Jeddah Gate is a completely different project and despite major developments in the Kingdom, it is very unlikely that it will affect our project. As one of the fastest growing cities in the Kingdom, Jeddah has a high demand for world-class residences.” He added that “Abraj Al-Hilal is the first residential component of Jeddah Gate, one of our pioneering developments in Saudi Arabia, and will offer modern homes that meet the lifestyle needs of Jeddah’s cosmopolitan population.”

Elaborating on the standards of modern living enshrined in Abraj Al-Hilal, Saed said “it will have a range of amenities including an outdoor swimming pool located on a lushly landscaped podium, an indoor swimming pool for ladies, and an array of health and fitness facilities. Other amenities will include a business center with meeting rooms and a children’s daycare center.”

He further said that “Abraj Al-Hilal will be a new lifestyle experience for Jeddah, offering all the comforts demanded by discerning residents today while reflecting the Kingdom’s timeless social fabric. It will drive the development of Jeddah Gate, a mixed-use project with commercial and retail components.”

Ahmad Alkulli, director, projects management, Emaar Middle East, complemented what Saed said, adding that “Jeddah Gate features outdoor plazas, gardens and waterscapes located along pedestrian promenades and boulevards, cultural centers and mosques that will add to the community feeling fostered by the residential project. Top-end retailers and several food and beverage outlets will also function in close proximity to the towers.”

Muhammad Al-Beshri, general manager, marketing and sales, Emaar Middle East, said “we expect huge response when the project is open for sales this week.”

Saed took a group of local journalists to the tour where he showed models of the fully-furnished two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats.

Jeddah Gate is located in the new downtown of the city and will spread over half a million sq m. In all, the project will have 6,000 residential units, 230,000 sq m of office space and 75,000 sq m of commercial area.

Emaar’s expansion to Saudi Arabia is in line with its Vision 2010 to become one of the most valuable companies through geographic expansion and business segmentation.
