JEDDAH, 18 November 2007 — COMMTEL 2007, which ended here on Friday night was a success, exhibitors said.
“We had a very successful participation and have clinched multimillion riyal deals,” a spokesman for Sharp ME FZE and Hoshan Company Ltd., said. The company launched a new range of high-end Sharp copiers that marks the Japanese electronic giant’s much awaited entry into the high-end multifunctional product (MFP) sector.
“Multi-functionality and digital technology have redefined the concept of office automation today. The launch of these high-end flagship products represents our commitment to this emerging trend within the MFP industry of which we aim to be an integral part,” Hajime Kobata senior manager, Sharp ME FZE, said.
A visitor survey, conducted by the organizers, revealed that 80 percent of visitors attended the exhibition to learn about new products and services to assist them in their present and future purchasing plans, with a remarkable 71 percent claiming to have achieved the purpose of their visit.
This fact is clearly reflected in the overall visitor satisfaction, with more than three quarters of those surveyed confirming their intention of visiting the COMMTEL 2008.
The interest of the younger generation in computing and communications was quite evident among the student community (tomorrow’s clients), who, accompanied by their teachers, visited COMMTEL 2006 from a wide variety of schools and colleges.
Overall exhibitor satisfaction of COMMTEL was high, with the vast majority achieving their objectives of obtaining new sales and/or increasing brand awareness.
Major companies dealing in computer and computer accessories took part in this exhibition, which is the Kingdom’s major event in the Western Region.
Saudi Telecom Company (STC), which showcased its “Future Home” concept, Mobily, Bravo and many other computer and computer software accessory companies supported this exhibition like in the previous years. Al-Haddad, Hoshan, Hoshanco, CALLEM, Zajil and Wall Street were among the national companies who exhibited their products and services at the show.
Exhibitors offered special prices for their products and services at the exhibition. Products booked at the exhibition had a special price tag. Exhibitors also offered attractive prizes, in addition to special prices.
Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily), which became the first Saudi 3G mobile operator and broke the mobile market monopoly on May 25, 2005, said its stand had lot of visitors inquiring about its present and future services.
The event — Saudi Arabia’s 22nd international event for computing, the Internet, office equipment and accessories, business communications and mobile phones — had 83,350 visitors who comprised professionals, IT experts, businessmen and students, according to Zahoor Siddique, exhibitions manager at Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions Ltd. which organized the annual show.
Jeddah Mayor Adel Faqeeh opened the event on Nov. 12.
The next COMMTEL will be held from Oct. 27-31, 2008.
