Sidelights: Posthumous Promotion Perplexes People

TABUK, 11 December 2007 — Once upon a time there was a woman named Najat who held a part-time job at a school in the Al-Wajh province. The Ministry of Education recently sent Najat a letter notifying her that she had been promoted to a full time position. The only problem was that Najat died a year ago, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. The news came to her family as a shock as she had been dead for over a year now and her next of kin had notified the school and closed all of her accounts. Apparently at least one account remained open somewhere.
