Al-Suliman Picked CAR Man of the Year

JEDDAH, 14 December 2007 — For his dedication to the motoring sport in Saudi Arabia, Mishaal Al-Suliman, vice-chairman and managing partner of United Racing Company, was selected Man of the Year by the international CAR magazine.

CAR Middle East, one of of the world’s most established and authoritative motoring titles, has launched its first Car of the Year awards (COTY) to coincide with the second anniversary of the magazine’s publication in the region and the 9th Middle East International Motor Show.

“Saudi Arabia has massive untapped potential when it comes to motorsports. Our honors to Mishaal Al Suliman for establishing the dedicated motorsport venue in Saudi Arabia which is the Jeddah Raceway,” said Shahzad Sheikh, editor of CAR Middle East.

Al-Suliman expressed his happiness for receiving such an award, saying “I think there are many motorsport figures in Saudi Arabia who supported the motoring sport in the Kingdom and on behalf of all those people, I feel proud to receive it.”

He added that the award is an achievement on the personal level and most importantly it is dedicated to motoring sport in Saudi Arabia which has started to take its position a year ago.

He said “Motor sports in the Kingdom have been raising its popularity since the government gave the green light to open the door for motor sports.

Jeddah Raceway, considered the first and largest project of its kind in Saudi Arabia, started operations after complying with FIA and GPYW’s rules and regulations.
