JEDDAH: Prince Abdul Hakeem bin Musaeed will represent Saudi Arabia at the 44th AMF bowling World Cup set for Nov. 7-15 in Hermosillo, Mexico.
In a statement on the occasion, Prince Abdul Hakeem expressed his happiness over the confidence bestowed on him by Prince Sultan bin Fahd, president of the Youth Welfare Presidency, and his deputy Prince Nawaf bin Faisal.
“I pray to God to help me achieve an honorable accomplishment for Saudi Arabia in this international competition,” said Prince Abdul Hakeem, who is the only player to represent the Kingdom in Mexico.
A number of countries including the US, Russia and China as well as European, Latin American, African and Asian countries are sending professional players.
Prince Abdul Hakeem, a well-known bowling champion, saw action in contests held in the US, Europe and several Arab countries, where he reached leading positions that qualified him to take part in this world championship.
Prince Abdul Hakeem began his preparations for this world championship more than three months ago during which he underwent intensive training. He will leave Riyadh tomorrow for Mexico.
Anne-Marrie Board, bowling World Cup manager, welcomed players from all over the world. “It’s our pleasure to welcome champions from different parts of the world,” she said, adding that 92 countries entered the event. Bashar Kalaji of Syria won the prestigious event in 2002.
