JEDDAH, 7 January 2008 — Three pending Saudi League matches will be played today. The two were the postponed matches and the other advanced from round 21.

The first match pits Al-Ittifaq and Taie in Dammam. This is the first game back for Ittifaq after the Gulf Cup Championship where they lost the final match to Al-Jazirah of UAE 7-6 on penalty kicks.

Ittifaq are in ninth position with 15 points from 11 matches. Ittifaq should have no problem playing against a league also-ran with only seven points to show thus far. Ittifaq club president, Abdul Aziz Al-Dossary, urged his players to forget the last defeat, concentrate fully on the Saudi League and try to make up for the points lost.

Al-Ahli hope to follow their spectacular 3-1 victory over Al-Hilal with another win when they host Najran of Najran at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here.

Ahli are looking to collect the game three points in a bid to improve their place in the team standings.

Headlining today’s triplebill is the match between Hilal and Wehda, teams that are both trying to come back from defeats.

Hilal are aiming to make the most of this pending match to keep pace with Al-Shabab and Al-Ittihad. Wehda, on the other hand, are keen to recover from their 2-0 loss against Shabab last week in Makkah.

Hilal are in third position with 23 points from 11 matches, while Wehda dropped to fifth with 19 points from 12 matches. League leaders Ittihad have three matches in hand, from where they stand to collect the maximum nine points.
