Saudi Forum on Investment and Banking Opens

JEDDAH, 20 January 2008 — A three-day Saudi International Banking & Investment Conference (SIBIC) opens today at 8:30 p.m. with the support of Makkah Governor Prince Khaled Al-Faisal at the Jeddah Hilton.

Tomorrow, the morning session will be devoted to a discussion on the Saudi banking sector, followed by a session in the afternoon on investment portfolios and real estate private equity in the Kingdom. Tuesday’s sessions will discuss services and solutions from the Islamic point of view, and insurance industry in the Kingdom, Adel Shakoor, president of XS Conferences & Exhibitions Ltd., which is organizing SIBIC 2008, told reporters yesterday. “It is a high-profile event with the participation of high-profile speakers,” he said.

Experts, consultants and speakers from the banking and investment sectors are taking part in the conference.

Speakers include SABB’s Chief Economist Dr. John Sfakianakis, Al-Wasafah Al-Maliah Co. President Dr. Yasin A. Jeffry, Dr. Mehmet Darendell of McKinsey & Company, Deutsche Bank’s CEO Dr. Jamal Al-Kashi, Dr. Adrian Cockram, CEO of Gulf Advisors, Osool Capital’s CEO Abdurrahman Al-Yahya, and Wan Asmadi Wan Ahmad, executive vice president, Islamic capital market, Aseam Bankers, Malaysia.

Deutsche Bank’s CEO for Saudi Arabia Dr. Jamal Al-Kashi, Osool Capital’s CEO Abdurrahman Al-Yahya, NCB Capital’s Hassan S. Al-Jabri, Abdullah Al-Sharif, secretary general of the Council of Cooperative Health insurance, Dr. Mugbel S. Al-Dukhair, professor of economics at King Abdul Aziz University and Basil M. Al-Ghalayini, founder and CEO of BMG Financial Advisors Group are among the other speakers.
