RIYADH, 26 January 2008 — Reducing the price of medicines and medical equipment in the face of growing inflation are among topics to be discussed at the 64th meeting of the GCC Health Ministers Council, which will be hosted by the Kingdom in Riyadh from Feb. 4 - 5.
“The council will discuss a uniform price code for medicines in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries, and explore ways and means of curbing price inflation,” said Dr. Tawfik Khoja, director general of the executive board of the Council of Health Ministers of GCC states.
The deliberations, he said, will focus on reducing the prices of medicines and medical equipment, and preparing a uniform tender for their purchases.
