RIYADH, 30 January 2008 — Despite the chilly weather conditions in the early morning, InterContinental Riyadh Golf club attracted a full field of excited golfers for the Battle of the Champions 2007 on Friday.
Korean golfer Won Cheol-kim won the overall men’s championship title with a net score of 50, and Canadian Sue Mature signed for a 62 net to win the ladies crown.
Gino Gizzi won the A Division (handicap 0-6) title. He shot a net 57 in the 18 holes full handicap stroke play event. Mike Martinez clinched the runner-up position on 58. David Martin won the B Division (7-12) with a 56 net while Ali Hernandez finished runner-up on 57.
In the C Division (13-18) Aminou Garba made a net par 58 to clinch the title with all-time Intercon favorite Cesar Rosario taking runner -up prize on 62.
In the ladies division Pakistani Kahkshan Ali won the runner-up position with 67 net. Vinij Singhanont and Martinez won the nearest the pin awards. Mounir Melliti, recreation manager, extended his support to the event.
Assistant Golf Club Manager Baby Joseph thanked the players and the Intercontinental management for their great support to the event. He distributed the prizes to all winners. The awarding ceremony ended with a buffet.
