Saudi Soccer Team Gear Up for 13th Asian Championship

JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia’s premier soccer team left here yesterday for Egypt to attend a training camp in preparation for the 13th Asian Championship in Iran set for Feb. 16-25, said Abdul Rahman Ayed, manager of the team.

The Saudi team, which includes 20 players, will take part in five friendly matches with two powerhouse Egyptian clubs Al-Ahli and Al-Zamalik, Ayed said.

The players selected for the camp are: Manaf Al-Saeed, Bandar Al-Harbi, Faisal Al-Fallati, Hassan Al-Ikhwan, Ghazi Al-Harbi, Talal Al-Seraihi, Hassan Al-Jedaani, Ahmed Al-Ambiawi and Turki Al-Ambiawi (from Al-Ahli), Muhammad Al-Salim, Nabeel Al-Obaidi, Mustafa Al-Habeeb, Qusay Al-Saeed, Fathi Al-Khudaimi, Sultan Al-Obaidi, Mahdi Al-Salim (Al-Noor), Yasser Shakhur, Ali Al-Saihati and Muhammad Al-Sayeb (Al-Khaleej), Yousuf Fallata (Wahda), Muhammad Al-Zair (Al-Safa) and Hussein Al-Mohsen (Al-Muheet).

Ten players have been dropped from a previous list during a training camp in Qateef, Ayed said. They are: Mansour Al-Saihati, Mahmoud Al-Ajami, Turki Baidhi, Abdul Majeed Housawi, Muslim Al-Abdurabb Annabi, Riyadh Al-Haji, Basim Al-Barakati, and Hassan Al-Janbi.
