TAIF — Angry sheepherders were in a tizzy over the disappearance of some of their flock at Al-Wahat Walwaheet encampment near Taif. According to a report in yesterday’s Al-Jazeera newspaper, the herders reported seeing a couple of young men in a police car helping themselves to the livestock by pushing a few of the animals into the back of the squad car. After an investigation it came to light that a police vehicle had been sold to a Saudi man. His sons decided to use the vehicle to make some informal arrests of livestock. After police caught wind to the deeds they arrested the boys.

Man Kidnapped at Toy-Gun Point

DAMMAM — Armed with a walkie-talkie and a toy gun, two men robbed an Asian expat of SR88,000 worth of jewelry, the daily Al-Eqtisadiah reported yesterday. The crooks then proceeded to kidnap the man and drop him off in a remote area of the city in order to delay his ability to report the crime. Police managed to nab the crooks, however. During the search they found the jewelry and discovered that the weapon used in the heist was in fact a toy gun. Good thing the crime victim did what he was told; otherwise the crooks might have pointed the gun at him and said “Bang, bang, you’re dead!”
