MADINAH — Two unfortunate lads went into a small grocery store here recently to be struck with a windfall of fortune from a kindly old man, the daily Al-Madinah reported yesterday. After hearing a sob story about how the young men were broke, the old man went to his safe and took out SR300,000 — his entire life savings — and gave it to the men. After the warm and fuzzy feeling of generosity wore off, the man became very agitated when it struck him that his entire retirement fund disappeared in one act of foolhardy charity. So he complained to the police, accusing the man of having cast a magical charm on him. Some locals disagreed, however, and said the man was simply succumbing to bouts of age-related senility.
