QASSIM, 21 February 2008 — The Toyota Hilux Challenge 2008 was organized as part of the Al Gahda festival in Qassim region on the hills of Mahrah Nefud of Onaiza Governorate. The first three winners were Abdulaziz Al-Nouyser, Omar Al-Jouraid and Ahmad Al-Badi.
A total of 50 competitors entered the event organized by Abdul Latif Jameel Co. under the auspices of Mosaed Al-Saleem, Onaiza governor and the technical faculty of Onaiza.
A great number of spectators and Hilux enthusiasts attended the event. This was the second staging of the event here after the successful inaugural run last year.
The Hilux racers drove from noon till sunset on a special track designed with sand dunes and natural obstacles in a test of driving skills and endurance.
When the dust settled, it was Al-Nouyser, who won the top cash prize of SR7,000. The second prize of SR5,000 went to Al-Jouraid and the third prize of SR3,000 to Al-Badi.
In addition, other incentive prizes and maintenance coupons for the participants were offered from ALJ Co.
Mohammad Bahasan, ALJ public relations and events manager, expressed his happiness for organizing such event. He thanked Mosaed Al-Saleem, Onaiza governor, for again hosting this event.
