JUBAIL, 4 March 2008 — Seven Toastmaster clubs in Jubail got together at Al-Jude Village Hall to hold their annual prepared speech and table topics contest with the winners from each club competing for area level honors.
Periyar Toastmasters Club President P.J.J. Antony chaired the contest with M.K. Jayakrishnan opening the proceedings and Paul Chirammel, area governor, welcoming the gathering.
Abdul Razak Al-Turki, lieutenant governor of the Toastmasters Gulf District, Abdullatif Al-Harthi, division governor, and Abdullah Sayyaleh, governor of Area 20, spoke on the occasion.
Mankind’s progress is indivisibly related to his ability to communicate effectively, hence the toastmasters’ fraternity around the globe is doing pioneering service to society by developing the communication and leadership skills of its members, said M.C. Sebastian, current chairman of Gulf CBSE School Principals’ Council, while addressing the gathering as chief guest.
K.K. James of Periyar Toastmasters Club won the coveted speech contest trophy; Suresh Kumar (Arabian) and Santhosh K. John (Elite) were placed first and second runners up; N.S. Ramanathan of Jubail Toastmasters Club won the table topics speech category; and Raji Krishnan (Periyar) and Jagadeesan Kumar (Global) bagged the second and third prizes.
Winners will represent the Jubail area at the division level contest in April, which will be conducted as part of the Eastern Province Toastmasters Annual Conference. Shahul Hameed led the panel of judges and Seju Davis was the event coordinator. Sneha Suresh gave a vote of thanks.
