JEDDAH, 15 March 2008 — The Kingdom Team of Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal will compete in the Bahrain International Equestrian Endurance Championship for the third time starting today. The other teams entered are UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi National Endurance team, and Bahrain Stallions. The Kingdom Team had been training with national coach Najeeb Barjas for a week. Men and women riders are vying in the 120 kilometers race divided into four stages. The Kingdom Team riders are Mohammed Al-Mihlisi, Abdulrahman Al-Hawwas, Alia Al-Huwaeti, Nourah Al-Yousif, and the youngest Lateifah Al-Sheikh who won the bronze medal in the previous event.
Syria Show Jumping Lures 14 Countries
JEDDAH, 15 March 2008 — Fourteen countries had confirmed their participation in the International Seif Al-Sham Tournament to be held simultaneously with the Arab Equestrian League 11th round in Syria on March 16. The participating countries are: Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Libya, Turkey, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Tunisia and hosts Syria who are leading the League. The 12th round set for March 23 will be likewise staged with the Al-Wafa International Tournament for Basil (Al-Assad). The top three from the 12-round championship series will qualify for the Show Jumping World Cup to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden April 23-27.
Saudi-Uzbekistan Tie
JEDDAH, 15 March 2008 — Saudi football team manager Fahad Al-Misebeih said the Saudi national team entered training camp yesterday in the Eastern Province in preparation for the away match against Uzbekistan on March 26 in the Asian Preliminary Qualification for the 2010 World Cup, where Saudi Arabia are bracketed in Group D along with Uzbekistan, Singapore and Lebanon. The Saudis won their first match against Singapore 2-0. Prior to their departure for Uzbekistan on March 23, the team will play a friendly against Albania next Friday.
