JEDDAH, 16 March 2008 — King Fahd Hospital will receive a series of new facilities, including a helipad, a new blood bank, laboratory and radiology department.
Health Minister Dr. Hamad Al-Manie will lay the foundation stone for the new building to house several of the new projects, Dr. Abdul Muniem Al-Sheikh, director of the King Fahd Hospital, told Arab News yesterday.
The emergency ward will be shifted to the ground floor of the new five-story building while its first floor will house the operation theater. The third, fourth and fifth floors will accommodate the inpatient wards. Specialist doctors will have their consulting rooms on the fifth floor.
Most of the work for the new laboratory and blood bank has been completed. With an intranet link at the operation theater, the facility for remote surgery would also be available at the hospital, Al-Sheikh said.
Al-Manie will also inaugurate the 16th seminar of the Saudi ENT Society, which is being organized at the hospital this evening. The theme of the seminar is “The New Developments in Nasal Surgery and Sleep Disturbances.”
