RIYADH, 6 April 2008 — Bushra, a 12-year-old fifth grade schoolgirl, called her father’s mobile number to find out why he was late picking her up from school. A police officer answered the phone and gave her some sad news: The man died in an accident en route to the school.
M.S.M. Hussein, principal of the Bangladesh International School (English Section), said yesterday that the accident took place on Wednesday.
“She started crying over the tragedy and we sent her home through one of her close relatives,” he said.
The principal said that Bushra wanted to come to school again yesterday despite her father’s death.
Bushra’s 14-year-old brother Abdullah also attends the school. The father was identified as Mohammed Kaiser Ahmed Choudhury, a 45-year-old engineer.
Police arrested an Indian taxi driver in connection with the fatal accident. The body is lying at the city morgue. The principal said that the school would lend the best possible assistance for Bushra to continue her studies.
