JEDDAH, 28 April 2008 — A high-level civil society delegation from India is currently on a visit to Saudi Arabia. The delegation is sponsored by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and is led by its vice president, Syed Shahid Mahdi.
The delegation includes P.K. Abdul Aziz, vice chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University; Anwar Moazzam, Islamic scholar, academic, writer and director, Urdu Documentation Center, Hyderabad; A.C. Patankar, adviser, Confederation of Indian Industry; Rakhshanda Jalil, coordinator, media and culture, Jamia Milia Islamia; and Mita Vasisht, actress.
During the visit, the delegation will interact with the Saudi civil society. The delegation is also expected to call on Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Abu Baker Bagader and is scheduled to visit the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dar Al-Hekma women's college, Islamic Development Bank, NCB and International Medical Center.
Saudi-India Friendship Society will be hosting a reception in honor of the delegation. The delegation will also participate in a panel discussion on Wednesday where some prominent Saudi personalities will speak.
