ICD Becomes IFSB&#39s Associate Member

JEDDAH, 30 April 2008 — The Islamic Corporation for the Development of Private Sector (ICD), a member of the Islamic Development Bank, was recently admitted as an associate member of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB). The IFSB declared ICD's membership on April 2. IFSB, which is based in Kuala Lumpur, serves as an international standard-setting organization that promotes and enhances the soundness and stability of the Islamic financial services industry. ICD has now been added to the 20 associate members of IFSB, whose total membership reached 164. Khaled Al-Aboodi, CEO and general manager of ICD, said the ICD would add value with its role in the IFSB.

Taiwan Plans Pavilion at ATM

RIYADH, 30 April 2008 — Taiwan will have a pavilion at the 15th Arabian Travel Market (ATM), which is scheduled in Dubai from May 6-8. Its stand (AS 520 in Hall 8) will showcase the special connection of nature, culture and technology that Taiwan offers. Visitors will experience virtually the nature of Taiwan through an interactive multimedia presentation featuring three films produced by award-winning Taiwan film director Hou Hsiao-Hsien. Daily shows at the pavilion will offer visitors a taste of healthful Taiwan teas and an opportunity to witness its tea-making traditions.

Indonesian Tourism Exhibition Set

JEDDAH, 30 April 2008 — An Indonesian tourism and culture exhibition is being held at Aziz Mall for two days from tomorrow. Organized by the Consulate General of Indonesia, the event will be followed by a meeting in which 14 Indonesian travel agents will meet their local counterparts on Saturday. Indonesia recorded 5.5 million tourists in 2007, the highest number in the past 10 years. The number shows that Saudis and other Arab tourists are increasingly traveling to Indonesia as it is more economical while offering attractive leisure amenities.
