RIYADH, 7 May 2008 — Saudi Arabia and Indonesia are eager to increase trade volume between their two countries. The issue was discussed here yesterday in the meeting that the acting Executive President of the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (FDA), Dr. Mohamad A. Al-Kanhal, held with his visiting Indonesian counterpart Dr. Husnia Rubiana Thamrin Akib.
They specially discussed the possibility of signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost trade in the food and drug sector.
“With the MoU, we hope that there will be better collaboration between the two countries,” Dr. Al-Kanhal said.
“The meeting was very productive. It was a step in the right direction. We were able to clarify issues regarding Indonesian exports to Saudi Arabia. As a result, we hope that there will be an increased trade volume between our two countries,” said Dr. Akib who is leading a three-member delegation to Saudi Arabia.
The delegation arrived in Riyadh yesterday from Jeddah where its members attended a healthcare exhibition.
