DUBAI, 15 May 2008 — Police in Dubai recently arrested a 26-year-old Arab masseur who killed and robbed a client on April 10 in the Naif area of the city.
The victim, a 62-year-old Arab man, telephoned the masseur to come to his apartment and provide him with a massage. Instead, the man came and beat his client over the head with a wooden plank, killing him. The suspect then stole money and other valuables from the flat.
Maj. Gen. Khamis Mattar Al-Mazeina, deputy commandant general of Dubai Police, said that this was the second time that the killer had visited the victim. “The victim used to look for masseurs through advertisements in the newspapers. That made our job very difficult,” he said.
Al-Mazeina said that the Criminal Intelligence Department formed 15 teams to track down the suspect. “After studying the crime scene we came up with a profile of the killer and managed to arrest him in a labor camp in Sharjah,” he said.
