MUMBAI, 17 May 2008 — Madhav Deshpande, one of the founders of Shiv Sena and beta-noire of Sena chief Bal Thackeray, yesterday denounced Thackeray and his nephew Raj Thackeray, president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. Deshpande appealed to Maharashtrians not to support the Thackerays in any way. “I firmly believe that Maharashtrians should never commit the blunder of supporting the Thackerays,” Deshpande said while speaking to the media here and alleged that both of them were interested only in money and power.
The veteran politician said that neither the Shiv Sena, nor Raj’s MNS looked after the interest of the people of the state. Deshpande is currently president of Forum for Justice. He quit mainstream politics after falling out with Bal Thackeray.
